Dr. Cecilia Rosales MD, MS, is Associate Dean and professor at the University of Arizona Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health – Phoenix Biomedical Campus and a native Tucsonan. Dr. Rosales received her medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez, Mexico in 1987 and later pursued a Master’s of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology in 2000. In addition to teaching many graduate level courses, Dr. Rosales has served as Chair for Master’s of Public Health graduate students from both the UA Phoenix and Tucson campuses. Dr. Rosales is well known both locally and nationally for her research within the field of public health. Her expertise and scholarship in the areas of program development and implementation, public health administration, and policy and health disparities research related to the Southwest and border regions has provided the foundation for many health care organizations and initiatives, including Street Medicine Phoenix. Dr. Rosales is currently working with the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Commission on a binational project using Primary Preventive Mobile Health Units around 11 U.S. states to provide underserved and vulnerable Hispanic/Latino communities with access to preventive health screenings and health education. Dr. Rosales is constantly motivated by students who seek to bring change to the community through health, education and collaboration.
